Phil Soper runs Canada’s largest real estate brokerage enterprise, Bridgemarq Real Estate Services. The group owns and operates the brands Royal LePage, Via Capitale and Johnston & Daniel, collectively consisting of nearly 21,000 agents in over 700 company-owned and franchised offices.
Bridgemarq, long one of Canada’s largest residential real estate companies, has produced steady and consistent results under the leadership of Soper, who assumed the CEO role 20 years ago in 2002. The company reported a net income of $15.0 million on $39.4 million in revenue in the first nine months of 2022. This represents a profit jump of nearly 6X above the same period in 2021. In addition, the firm grew its agent count to an all-time high of 20,761 in 2022, up 3 percent from 2021.
The company manages a stable business model, with roughly two-thirds of its revenue coming from fixed franchise fees, which affiliated business and agents pay to be part of its network.
Known as a smart, down-to-earth leader, Soper has, for most of the past decade, been recognized as the highest placed Canadian leader on the SP 200 ranking of the most powerful people in residential real estate. His consistent, competence and unrelenting excellence however now also earns him the honor of the first top-10 placement of a leader of a Canadian company.
