After several years of succession planning, Kelly was named president and CEO of HomeServices of America in April 2025, taking the helm of the nation’s third-largest real estate enterprise by U.S. sales volume.
He oversees a vast operation spanning company-owned brokerages and the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices franchise network, representing more than 64,000 agents and over $260 billion in annual transaction volume.
Kelly stepped into the role following HomeServices’ $250 million settlement in the Sitzer-Burnett commission litigation, inheriting a company at an inflection point. Kelly joined the HomeServices enterprise in 2007 as general counsel for ReeceNichols and later served as senior counsel overseeing acquisitions and technology initiatives. He went on to lead Ebby Halliday as president and CEO before being named executive vice president of HomeServices.
Now leading one of the industry’s largest and most capitalized real estate companies — backed by parent company Berkshire Hathaway — Kelly has emerged as a steady, execution-focused leader at a moment of structural change for residential real estate.
